The weather doesn't allow any more all black fila shoes island trips, which is somewhat disappointing. Members continue window restoration work at a private home. The Annual Meeting in December sees the celebration of FILA's 10th anniversary, with a BIG birthday cake.2016 : In winter and early spring, preparations for a new landing dock at the Light Station are intensified by the DNR and other authorities. In cooperation with the DNR, a FILA team travels to Muskegon to pick up 300 additional cream-colored bricks to be used in repairs at the station. The first work trip to the island is already a five-day operation, mainly focussing on the on-site restoration and installation of windows on the 1867 Lighthouse.
On one of those crossings of the Manitou Passage, the 75th work trip and the 5000th nautical mile on behalf of the South Fox Island are celebrated with Champagne. On the mainland, FILA participates in the Port Oneida Fair and holds the 10th Pancake Breakfast at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse. In 1994 the company inked an endorsement contract with Grant Hill of the NBA's Detroit Pistons. After he won 1995's Rookie of the Year award, sales of his namesake shoe skyrocketed to more than 1.5 million pairs. The brand continued its youth appeal with the 1995 addition of NBA rookie Jerry Stackhouse to its roster. From 1990 to 1995, U.S. sales as a percentage of overall Fila revenues went from 22 percent to 60 percent. Frachey also turned past growth strategies blue fila sneakers upside down.
Efforts at geographic diversification were so successful that by 1995, Korea had grown to become Fila's second largest market, behind the United States but exceeding Italy. In acknowledgment of the fact that the United States had become its largest and most important market, Fila moved its global operations center to its U.S. headquarters mid-decade.The new leaders launched a number of cost-cutting initiatives.
